Well, week two is a wrap! Upon reflection, I'd have to say my key takeaways this week consisted of even MORE learning, as well as unleashing my full potential to succeed as an intern!
This week I had an oppourtunity to take advantage of being a social media enthusiast, and met with someone on my team named Marc Bulander. Marc is highly experienced with social medias such as LinkedIn and Twitter, using them to their maximum business potential. Providing me examples, such as how to interact with higher level execs and use any form of interaction as a connection to talk and arrange meetings was extremely fascinating, it is something I never thought about until he provided me real examples of it working! While my Twitter standing isn't too successful, I actually ended up discussing my significant others' social media standing with Marc, whom found it fascinating and ended up telling his kids about what Nick does for a living! Nick actually is a social media enthusiast, and is a full time live streamer on a platform called Twitch, where he streams himself playing video games for all those interested to watch, and goes by the name of Firedragon764. With over 100K followers on Twitch and 18K on Twitter, needless to say Marc absolutely loved it and was impressed, and ended up telling his son about him and to check him out! That conversation definitely woke me up a bit, talking about social medias and how they benefit businesses and help make connections!
Along with this fantastic meeting, I have been working on an event for Box and IBM coming up later in July and August, which also has been going well. The only road block we face is that after we spoke with the woman who ran last year's event, she had mentioned that she had the Marketing team backing her, along with buying a 3rd party list, resulting in over 10,000 invites going out, something we do not have advantage of. However, everyone is aware we don't have access to these things and are allowing us to do the best we can with what we've got, so as of right now we are working with our host managers to comprise an invite list. I also was able to give the invite that was already created a face lift, to make it brighter and more inviting, and everyone approved of my invite which is super exciting!
Along with the Box event, I am working on creating a product list for the SCL team to use in meetings as well as figuring out brand reps, so a lot of prospecting! Understanding that everyone on my team is very busy trying to close deals until July, as it is the end of the quarter, I am touching base with my manager every week, but working on my excel sheets and product lists until the Quarter is over. Once the quarter is over, I will be able to start shadowing on sales calls and meetings with the SCLs, something I am really excited about!
Overall, week two was a great success. I learned a lot about the company as well as how to use social medias to get meetings, as well as enlightening a few more people on the world of Firedragon764 (including my puppy!)
